Which way for the built environment after the Earth Summit?
Following the recent Earth Summit in Johannesburg, this article considers its influence on the built environment for engineers, designers, and clients. Will 'traditional' building methods soon be totally eclipsed by 'sustainable' techniques
Last September, delegates, national-government officials, and businesses from around the world gathered in Johannesburg in South Africa. Their ultimate aim was to achieve world agreement and a clear set of goals to solve the long-term problems of poverty, environmental degradation, and unsustainable development.
